Facilities

The Performers currently resides at the gorgeous Magnify Dance Center in the heart of Albuquerque. The studio is less then a year old and this will be our second year being able to dance in this truly magnificent facility.

Admission

Auditions are not required for admission. However, dancers attending the workshop for the first time must take a placement class at Magnify Dance Center. A date and time can be arranged with the Artistic Director. Please call to schedule an evaluation or inquire about sending a video. Evaluation needs to be completed by May 17, 2016.

Instructor Bios

Andrea BasileAndrea Basile has performed with several dance companies including The San Francisco Ballet, ODC Dance, Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, Kate Weare Company, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, Smuin Ballet, and The Foundry. Alonzo King choreographed “Pas” for Homer Avila and Ms. Basile, which premiered with Axis Dance Company, and was also featured on the cover of Dance Magazine. She has been teaching for many years in genres such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary ballet, improv, and composition classes. Ms. Basile has been an instructor at many dance schools including Alwin’s School of Dance, LINES Ballet School, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Cincinnati Ballet Academy, Marin Dance Theater, and the ODC School. She has also greatly enjoyed teaching for dance companies such as ODC Dance, Smuin Ballet, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, and Robert Moses’ KIN.\
Jo BoldenJo Bolden is particularly recognised for her unique lyrical, jazz and jazz funk styles but known for her work with dancers to unleash powerful presence and connection in each moment. She has a creative philosophy grounded in owning who you are, what you have to offer and then reaching for more artistically, energetically and physically from there. Ultimately this work and philosophy have seen Jo lecture and teach at an international level to teachers, professional, pre-professional, competitive and recreational dancers. Currently living in LA, Jo now makes regular appearances at EDGE PAC, Hollywood and is represented by Go 2 Talent Agency. She remains part of an International Faculty, alongside well-known teachers from the U.S.A and Canada, for Phoenix International Dance Workshops (New Zealand), Head of Performing Arts at renowned studio Ettingshausens in Sydney and as a guest tutor for The American Jazz Dance Affiliation (NZ). Jo has worked with dancers across the USA, from Washington DC to LA, Canada, England, New Zealand and for various high profile studios, institutions and workshops in her hometown of Sydney, Australia including Sydney Dance Company, Urban Dance Centre and ED5. Performance credits reach from TV/Film to corporate and live stage shows including the A.R.I.A and Mo Awards, Australian Fashion Week, Son of the Mask (Feature Film), stage performances with Meatloaf and Sam Powers International Illusionist. Jo has also been called upon to choreograph for the Miss Chinese Australia Pageant, General Motors (Mitsubishi), Schwarzkopf, the Shanghai Tourism Festival, the NRL, Regprom Marketing, Australian recording artists, club shows and more.
Lee Wei Chao received early ballet training from Xiao Lee, who brought from Russia the Vaganova ballet method to Taiwan. His training continued at the National Institute for the Arts in Taipei. He came to the U.S. in 1996 and danced at The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and the Festival Ballet of Rhode Island before joining the Milwaukee Ballet Company from 1998 through 2005. Since 2001, Mr. Chao has been guest choreographer and teacher in various parts of the states. In 2002 and 2003 he was commissioned for new works by the Milwaukee Ballet Company, Beyond Invisible and Edge of Silence, which premiered in 2003 and 2004 respectively. He also designed the stage sets and costumes, which gave him the opportunity to incorporate other aspects of his creative ability. Currently based in San Francisco, CA, Mr. Chao is on the faculty of The School of the Arts San Francisco Dance Center (Lines Ballet), Lines Ballet School and ODC San Francisco.
Jonathan Guise has been dancing professionally for 20 years. He graduated from the dance department of The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida, and has danced with The Boston Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Eugene Ballet, and others. Jonathan has worked with choreographers including Twyla Tharp, Nacho Duato, Daniel Ezralow, and Mia Michaels. He has worked as Artistic Director of The Peak Ballet Theatre and Northridge Dance Conservatory in Colorado Springs, where created four full length original ballets and over 35 dances. Two of his ballets were recognized by the Pikes Peak Arts Council Jonathan taught at Jacksonville University, Harvard Dance Department, Northwestern University, and many other dance institutions across the world. Jonathan is very excited to be joining the Performers Workshop!
Christina Woodard -TEACHER/CHOREOGRAPHER/DIRECTOR Christina’s unique style and challenging classes have put her in demand as a master teacher and choreographer throughout the world. Her extensive knowledge of anatomy, allows her to provide exciting and educational classes with a deep focus on stretch, strength and placement; while her incredible energy and compassion has made her popular with dancers of all ages. She is a faculty member of EDGE Performing Arts Center (Hollywood, CA), Dance Masters of America, Groove Street Dance Conventions and Harbour Dance Center in Canada. Christina’s TV and FILM credits include: Motion City Soundtrack “HER WORDS” Music Video, iCARLY (Nickelodeon), GARY UNMARRIED w/ Rob Riggle (CBS), The STEVE HARVEY SHOW (WB), SUDDENLY SUSAN w/Brooke Shields (WB), FAME (Sony), and THE NIKKI COX SHOW (WB). She has also done Industrials for GUESS, DISNEY, NESTLE AND NIKE. Currently Christina is teaching all over the country, and choreographing on the new show “Victorious” with Victoria Justice, scheduled to air in March on Nickelodeon.
